About
Hi, I'm Simon.
Having grown up in a small town on South Africa's Eastern Coast, naturally I'm a keen surfer and outdoorsman. More-so, I love culture, history and geography. Reading the earth through it's rhythms and underlying structures, namely the wind, tides, waves, sun's orientation and earth's contours informed my everyday activities growing up. I rely on this understanding to this day to be at harmony with the environment I'm in and more specifically, to create architecture that is at harmony with the environment it's in.
The privilege of growing up in South Africa meant being exposed to a multitude of cultures, beliefs, worldviews and languages on a daily basis. Through this I gained a sensitivity to the social and spatial potential of cities to express the diversity of the societies they serve and have kept this awareness at the forefront of all decisions I make as an Architect.
My sense of wonder for the world and enthusiasm to learn has lead to a desire to recognise the underlying order that gives expression to all that is meaningful and timeless in the world. Architecture provides a platform through which I can engage and develop this understanding and hopefully add a layer to it.
