A new residence for a family between the mountains and the sea.
House Fick is a family house for a large family in a residential area situated between the coastal mountains of Hermanus and the rocky shoreline of walker bay. The site receives it's light and views from the northern, mountain facing side and as a result, the building is arranged longitudinally along an east west axis.
The bulk of this large house is set back from the street with a single storey section, with layered, overhanging roofs setting up thresholds away from the street. The grey corrugated iron cladding reflects the silver colour of the mountains and vegetation of the region and is softened by the white, Mediterranean quality of the light.
